    Epiphany Catholic Church in Miami has an immediate opening for a Full-time Associate Music Director / Choirmaster. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of traditional Roman Catholic liturgy and music, with special emphasis on Gregorian chant, traditional hymnody, Renaissance polyphony, and the repertoire for choir and orchestra by Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn, etc. Excellent singing, conducting, leadership, and teaching skills are essential. The choral music program currently consists of a semi-professional adult choir, a children’s choir, and a Spanish choir. The church has a 61-rank Ruffatti pipe organ, and is built according to traditional principles, with excellent acoustics.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Conducting and rehearsing choirs and occasional chamber orchestra.
    • Serving as cantor for some weekly Masses; training cantors.
    • Collaborating with the music director/organist on planning music for liturgies and the concert series.
    • Recruiting choir members and expanding the vision for authentic church music in the parish.

    Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in music or equivalent experience.
    • Strong background in choral music and knowledge of the church’s principles for music in the liturgy according to Tra le Sollecitudini, Sacrosanctum Concilium, and Musicam Sacram.
    • Ability to make arrangements using music notation software (Finale, Sibelius, etc)
    • Knowledge and ability to teach good vocal technique to adults and children.
    • Practicing Catholic who adheres to the Church’s teachings on faith and morals.

    You have not only Frost, but some really excellent choirs in Seraphic Fire and Master Chorale (among others) and a decent chunk of East Coast transplants down there. There's potential for good music making with this gig.
