Christendom College - Sacred Music and Gregorian Chant High School Summer Program June 16-20, 2010
  • Students who will be entering their junior or senior year of high school are invited to join Christendom College’s Choir Director, Dr. Kurt Poterack, and guest lecturer, Fr. John Zuhlsdorf, for this inaugural Sacred Music and Gregorian Chant Program.

Dr. Poterack holds a PhD in Music Composition and is a gifted director, editor, and composer. He was the Editor-in-chief on the Adoremus Hymnal editorial committee and is an Editor Emeritus of the Church Music Association of America, as well as Editor-at-large for their quarterly publication, Sacred Music. Fr. Zuhlsdorf was ordained by Pope John Paul II in 1991. He is a former collaborator with the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei and he writes a weekly column in The Wanderer on liturgical translation.

The program will involve learning to sing from the Church’s treasury of Sacred Music, particularly the rudiments of singing and reading Gregorian chant notation and will conclude with a sung Latin Mass.

One session will be held from June 16–June 20 and will cost $350. More information, including a daily schedule and activities will be posted soon. The registration deadline is May 14, so prompt online registration is encouraged in order to secure a place in the program.

Here is a link to Christendom's Web page about the program, from which you can access the registration form: http://christendom.edu/admissions/summermusic.shtml

Please feel free to contact me (Bfettes@christendom.edu) with any questions regarding registration, or Dr. Kurt Poterack himself (kpoterack@christendom.edu) regarding the content of the program.
