Proclamation of the Date of Easter on Epiphany in Spanish
  • Here is the "Proclamation of the Date of Easter on Epiphany" set to chant in Spanish. I was asked to put this together at the last minute tonight, and will revisit it at a later date to typeset it in Caeciliae. But for now, here is the Spanish text superimposed over the notation provided by the USCCB website.

  • Thank you! Great work!
  • This is a poor translation. In Latin America, each country has it own translation of the Missale Romanum; there is not a unique translation for all the dioceses of LA. In the past, Latin dioceses previously expected the translation made in Spain, then use it.

Now, things have changed. Colombia was one of the first countries to present their work to the Congregation of Divine Worship, and it was approved in 2007. Still many countries to be approved.
If latin people want to sing the Christmas Proclamation, only have the text (no music) offered in the Martytologium Romanum translation made by Spain.

In the USA, the Conference of Bishops has a spanish translation for the Roman Misal and this kind of chants?

    Happy new year, 2011!!

    (Sorry for my bad english)

    Bienvenido, organista20!

The US bishops conference is preparing its own Spanish translation of the Missal, but the work is not complete yet, so, for now, priests here use Missals from various countries.

US bishops conference is preparing its own Spanish translation of the Missal

Let's hope the US Bishops are more fluent in Spanish than they seem to be in English and Latin.

chonak: US bishops conference is preparing its own Spanish translation of the Missal

Can you point to some USCCB Newsletter(s) about this?

I have only located news items about overlaying new Readings and Psalms,
which I carefully documented here ...

Bp. Cisneros mentions here that the US bishops will be presenting a revised Misal Romano with US adaptations for the approval of the Holy See.

so I shouldn't say, really, that they're preparing their own translation, but preparing their own edition -- probably based on some other country's translation.

  • Organista,

My apologies for the poor translation. I used what was available to me. Could you provide me with a link to the official translation from Spain?
